Carbon Market Networking Seminar

The Clean Development Mechanism is an instrument under the Kyoto Protocol that allows industrialized countries with GHG reduction commitment to invest in emissions-reducing projects in developing countries in return for certified emissions reductions.
The global market was estimated to be worth €40 billion in 2007, an increase of 80 from 2006. The total traded volume increased by 64 percent from 1.6 Gt (1.6 billion tonnes) in 2006 to 2.7 Gt in 2007. Of this, Asia accounted for 2.08 Gt with China, Indonesia and India leading the pack.
