The World Bank’s Carbon Finance Assist program is a global capacity building program for climate change mitigation implemented by the World Bank Institute (WBI) in collaboration with the Carbon Finance Unit (CFU). World Bank uses money contributed by governments and companies in OECD countries to purchase project-based GHG emission reductions in developing countries and countries with economies in transition. The carbon finance activities at the World Bank aim to catalyze a global carbon market that reduces transaction costs, supports sustainable development and reaches and benefits the poorer communities of the developing world.
